Seward Park Residence
Initially, the owners of this Lake Washington waterfront home only wanted to add a Conservatory to their house without altering the classic lines of the original structure. But, while Edifice Construction crews were working on the 1,100 square foot addition, the owners also requested that we perform several other projects around the home - including the addition of a 75 foot lap pool surrounded by a 2,000 square foot slate deck.

The conservatory is a remarkable piece of work. The floor is inlaid with six different species of hardwood. The walls are finished in Brazilian cherry, and the windows can be shuttered from the inside with matching eight foot panels which open and close with the touch of a finger on an electronic keypad. The stairs leading into the conservatory are marble, and the adjacent wall is finished in backlighted rose onyx.

The focal point of the addition are the 12-foot wide bow doors which, at first glance, appear to be a solid windowed enclosure. They are instead electronically controlled doors which sweep open onto the rear of the house, providing access to the home's lap pool, boat dock or the lakeshore.
